Naturally yours… More consumers are searching for natural foods which are free of artificial colours, flavours, and particularly PRESERVATIVES. Millions of Australians suffer from allergies, so it is no surprise that the demand is growing rapidly for Preservative Free Wines. In 2002, a customer requested us to make a small batch of preservative free red for herself and this was the start of our natural wine range. Our Preservative Free range is handcrafted, using high quality, cool climate grapes with all of the red wines being barrel aged and our Yarra Valley Chardonnay was barrel fermented with malolactic fermentation in barrel. Because of the difficulty and the high cost in making quality Preservative Free wines, we do not make very large commercial quantities. On the technical side, please note that not only do we have zero sulphur additions, we also do not add sulphur to the grapes at the time of harvesting. Because of this, the most sensitive customer can safely enjoy our Sulfites Free wines without any risk of allergic reaction (except of course if they are allergic to natural components of the wine).

FEATURES OF OUR PRESERVATIVE FREE RED WINES include:

1. Deep colour.

2. Solid tannin structures to ensure longevity.

3. Full flavoured.

4. Subtle oak with added complexity from about 9months of barrel maturation.

5. No filtration to avoid stripping of flavour and colour from the wine.

6. No fining agents – the wines are suitable for vegans and vegetarians.

7. Total protection of the wines at all stages including bottling, so that fruit and freshness are preserved.

2017 J-O Raymond Preservative Free Victoria Shiraz

A blend of fruits from several regions, with the majority from the Murrindindi Ranges and Yarra Valley.

The resulting wine shows a vibrant rich purple/blood plum colour. Lovely fresh, plumy fruit on nose with subtle French oak. Medium to full bodied palate with soft tannins, although enough grip to guarantee cellaring for several years for those who enjoy more mature styles. Try it with Eggplant Parmigiana or Char-grilled Lamb cutlets.

2016 Big Fella Yarra Valley Single Vineyard Barrel Fermented Chardonnay

From our Yarra Glen vineyard, this 100% barrel fermented Chardonnay had malolactic fermentation in barrel with twelve months barrel maturation on lees.

The resulting wine shows a powerful aroma with subtle French oak and hints of peach, nectarine and yeast lees (bready) character which follows through to the pallet with a very good complexity of flavours and very persistent finish which is well balanced with soft acidity.
